Objective:The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of a single oral dose of azithromycin in the treatment of acute uncomplicated community-acquired pneumonia (CAMPs).
Methods:This study was performed in a paediatric ward of the Infectious Diseases Department of the National Institute for Clinical Excellence, Faculty of Medicine and the Infectious Diseases Medicine Hospital, Niteratorial Hospital, Niteratorial Hospital, University Hospital Niteratorial, Ismailia, Ismailia, Ismailia, Ismailia, Ismailia, Ismailia, Ismailia, Ismailia, Ismailia, Ismailia, Ismailia, Azithromycin and Azithromycin 500 mg/day. The ward provided the data for the patients to which they were randomly assigned. Patients received azithromycin as an oral treatment for acute uncomplicated pneumonia (AUC: 0.2 mg/kg/dose) for 4 weeks.
Results:The AUC of azithromycin in the first 4 weeks of treatment was 3.7 mg/kg/day, while the AUC of azithromycin in the second 4 weeks was 0.8 mg/kg/dose. The mean duration of the treatment was 3.1 weeks. The AUC of azithromycin was significantly higher in patients with severe neutropenia (0.5 mg/kg/day) than in patients with mild neutropenia (0.1 mg/kg/day). There were no statistically significant differences in the AUCs of azithromycin between the two groups. The AUCs of azithromycin were also significantly higher in patients with severe neutropenia (0.5 mg/kg/day) than in patients with mild neutropenia (0.1 mg/kg/day). The AUCs of azithromycin in patients with neutropenia were significantly higher than in patients with mild neutropenia. The mean duration of azithromycin therapy in the two groups was significantly longer than in the two groups of patients with severe neutropenia. The AUC of azithromycin in patients with severe neutropenia was significantly higher than in patients with mild neutropenia.
Conclusions:The mean duration of azithromycin therapy in the two groups of patients with neutropenia was significantly longer than in the two groups of patients with mild neutropenia.
Azithromycin: a combination drug with azithromycin (AZITHROMYCIN) [Clinical pharmacology].ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of a single oral dose of azithromycin in the treatment of acute uncomplicated community-acquired pneumonia (AUC) in the acute setting. The study included 30 patients with AUC of at least 0.2 mg/kg/dose. All patients were receiving azithromycin as an oral treatment for acute uncomplicated pneumonia. The patients were randomly divided into two groups (group 1) and group 2 (group 2) in terms of age, gender, sex and duration of treatment. The patients were administered azithromycin as an oral treatment for AUC. The patients were followed for 3 years, and then were randomly allocated to two groups using computer-generated random numbers. In both groups, the most frequent treatment-emergent adverse events, such as diarrhoea and respiratory infections, were observed in the patients in the group with less than 1 kg body weight, in the group with more than 1 kg body weight, and in the group with greater than 1 kg body weight. No adverse events in either group were reported during the study period. These data suggest that the AUC of azithromycin is not a drug of therapeutic use in acute uncomplicated pneumonia. In addition, the AUC of azithromycin is not a drug of therapeutic use in AUC, and, thus, the AUC of azithromycin is not a drug of therapeutic use in acute uncomplicated pneumonia.
